"openSUSE Linux Unleashed"

In this section, we will
look at two standalone vector graphics programs, Inkscape and Skencil.
Inkscape
This editor is incredibly easy to use and reasonably intuitive for the task at hand. Open it
from the KDE Office menu, under Flowchart.
Select a tool from the toolkit running along the left side of the screen and start drawing.
Click inside an object with the selection tool (the arrow) to resize or rotate the object (be
it a simple rectangle or a hand-drawn free shape). Change colors? Select the object and
choose from the palette at the bottom. Want more precise control over the color shade, or
put a red border around your shape? Right-click on the object and open the Fill and
Stroke dialog.
In some ways, drawing a straight line or arrow may be the hardest thing to do in Inkscape.
There is no distinct line-drawing tool; you must use the bezier curve tool. Click once to
start the line, drag the line along and double-click to end the line. To add an arrow, rightclick
on the line and select Fill and Stroke. Click the Stroke Style tab, and go to the End
Markers drop-down menu.
