You can also export your drawings as plain bitmaps, or save them in a variety of formats
for display on the web, or for further editing in, say, OpenOffice.
If you like to pull different elements into a base graphic for multiple purposes, you??™ll be
happy to learn that Inkscape supports Layers. Create a background image, then go to the
Layer menu and select Add Layer. To make a layer ???disappear,??? click the eye icon in the
lower-left of the Inkscape screen.

Should you be one of those graphics people who remain mouse-averse, you can do just
about everything in Inkscape via your keyboard. Check out the enormous zoomable list
of keyboard shortcuts in Keys and Mouse under the Help menu.
In an admirable display of confidence in their tool, Inkscape??™s tutorial files are published
as SVG files, even with large amounts of text. These tutorials, accessible from the Help
menu, are indeed useful for beginners just getting started.
