"openSUSE Linux Unleashed"

While it took over four years to get
to Mozilla 1.0, it quickly became the default Linux browser.
Some Mozilla developers believed the suite (with built-in email, chat, and an HTML
editor) was overkill, and that users wanted a simple, quick-loading browser that didn??™t
need much memory. The first test version of this browser, called Phoenix, was released in
September 2002. After going through a few name changes and several beta releases,
Mozilla Firefox 1.0 came out on November 9, 2004. In the first 99 days of availability,
people downloaded more than 25 million free copies of Firefox (for all operating systems).
Since then, Firefox??™s share of the browser market has been hovering around 15%. Firefox
2.0 was released October 24, 2006, and it is the default browser in openSUSE 10.3.
The growth of Firefox led the Mozilla Foundation to announce in March 2005 that it
would no longer support development of the complete Mozilla Suite. Another group of
developers then launched the SeaMonkey project to maintain and improve the suite code.
