Kontact has six basic components:
. KMail??”A full-featured email client with some built-in spam and virus protection,
configurable filters to help you organize your mail, and the usual customization
features.
. KOrganizer??”Calendar and to-do list for the busy person.
. KAddressBook??”Holds your Kontacts and integrates with your calendar and mail
clients.
. KNotes??”A quick-opening, lightweight text editor for reminders and other bits of
information.
. KNode??”A Usenet newsreader that can access multiple news servers and filter out
spam and other worthless material.
. aKregator??”A new RSS/Atom feedreader that downloads information from weblogs and
news sites for easy reading. You??™ll learn more about this component in Chapter 16.
Besides the main information tools, there are some handy accessories in the KDE-PIM
lineup. KPilot (see Chapter 9, ???Being Productive: Office Suites and Other Tools???) and
Kandy are tools to sync your information with your Palm device or mobile phone, respectively.
KAlarm notifies you when something important is coming up (or you just have
new mail), and KArm is your personal time clock, available to help you figure out where
all the time goes (especially if you have billable hours).
