Once you??™re logged in, download the MT tarball. While you??™re at it, you should probably
pick up the Installation and User??™s Guides at http://www.sixapart.com/movabletype/
docs.html.
Follow these steps to install Movable Type into your local Apache server.
1. As with Bloxsom, extract MT into the ~/public_html/cgi directory. You may want to
rename the resulting MT directory from /MT-- to just plain MT.
2. In a shell, type chmod 755 *.cgi to grant global read/write permissions to all the
CGI scripts in the MT directory.
3. MT relies on a bunch of Perl modules to do its work. It ships with common modules
that work in all its supported platforms, but you may not have all the modules
installed that MT needs. To figure out what you may need to get, MT provides a script
that checks your system. Open a browser and enter this url: http://localhost/
cgi-bin/mt/mt-check.cgi. A list of required and optional modules will appear.
4. Install any necessary Perl modules through the Comprehensive Perl Archive
Network (CPAN).
