If this is the case in your situation,
you must use Fetchmail to connect to the remote mail server to download your mail.
The Downloading section defines the parameters required for Fetchmail to do its thing.
Besides the standard POP and IMAP protocols, there are several other protocols that can
be used to transfer mail from a remote mail server:
. POP2??”Possibly still present on some mail servers, this version of the Post Office
Protocol is really old.
. APOP, KPOP??”More secure authentication than ordinary POP3.
