You can manually choose the protocol to use (such as POP or IMAP) or allow Fetchmail to
automatically detect the appropriate protocol.
When a remote mail server accepts your mail messages, you must map which local user
accounts use which email addresses. The Fetchmail program retrieves the email messages
and then delivers them to the appropriate local user mailbox. The Details button allows
you to map local user accounts to specific remote mail accounts on the mail server.
Root Mail
The root admin account on the system receives important system messages if things go
wrong on the system. Because it is not usually a good idea to log in as the root user, you
can choose to redirect mail destined for the root user to another user.
Select a user account that belongs to an admin on the system and remember to check it
daily. It is important to read system mail messages as soon as possible to avoid costly
problems.
MDA Method
The Delivery mode dropdown box allows you to select one of three MDA methods to use
for delivering local mail:
