CHAPTER 15 Managing Email Servers 324
Local Aliases
Just as you have the ability to redirect mail for the root user to another user, you can use
aliases to redirect mail for other accounts to different users. Often this feature is used to
define fictitious mail accounts. The aliases list allows you to create any type of email
name and then point that address to a valid local user.
This feature allows you to create generic accounts, such as customercare@mycorp.com,
and then redirect that mail account to a valid user. You can also change the user to which
the mail is forwarded at any time using the same interface.
