Only recently have dedicated webfeed aggregators begun appearing in Linux. The latest
versions of the Firefox and Opera browsers both have aggregators built in. Akregator for
KDE is gaining converts, and Liferea for GNOME is getting there, too. Many audio players
have aggregator features that support podcasts as well. You read about those in Chapter 10,
???Sights, Sounds, and Other Fun Things.??? There are also several excellent online aggregators.
Aggregators in Browsers
Both Firefox 2 and Opera 10 have their own simple aggregators that you might find
useful.

In the Firefox toolbar, you??™ll see an item called ???Latest Headlines,??? with the orange
webfeed icon. Clicking this item offers a drop-down selection of current headlines from a
variety of news sources. Click on any one to be transported to the originating page for
that headline. This is a Firefox ???Live Bookmark.???
When Firefox arrives at a site with a syndicated feed, the same orange button appears in
the address line of the browser. Click this icon to add the feed as a Live Bookmark.
