CHAPTER 16 Collaborating with Others 346
FIGURE 16.8 Create your own wiki pages with Zim.
When you create your repository, Zim displays a Home page, and notes the creation date,
as in Figure 16.9. Treat Zim as something in between a simple text editor and a word
processor. You can bold, indent, or underline text, and identify headings. Create bulleted
lists by starting a line with an asterisk (*). Zim saves everything on creation, but you can
still press Ctrl+S to save the file if you can??™t drop the habit.
What makes a wiki fast is the ease with which you can create a link. To create a new page
on your site, simply put two brackets on either side of your page??™s title. That is, type the
following in any page in Zim to create a new page called ???My Wiki Practice Site???:
[[My Wiki Practice Site]]
Zim will create the page and link to it. To link to a page outside this repository, put a
colon between the left brackets and your text, like this:
[[:My Wiki Practice Site]]
