From the Synopsis and
Description sections of the date command, you can see that there are lots of options for
displaying the date in a variety of formats. If you use a root shell session, you can also use
arguments to set the date of your system directly from the command line interface. To
exit the man page screen, press q on your keyboard.
File Management Commands
The openSUSE system provides great graphical tools for managing files and directories on
your system. However, once you become proficient in command line commands, sometimes
it??™s quicker to open a command prompt and use the command line commands to
manipulate files and directories. This section describes the command line commands
necessary to manage files and directories on your system.
Viewing File Information
In the graphical world it is easy to see what files are available in a directory. They all
appear as icons in the Konqueror window. However, to view specific file information, you
have to look at a specific file??™s properties. In Konqueror, this requires right-clicking the file
and selecting the Properties menu item.
