TaskMgr
and pressing Enter.
Using the Windows Task Manager to Your Advantage
The Task Manager takes on new importance in Server Core because it provides a convenient
method of performing basic tasks quickly. For example, you can use it to manage applications, start
or stop services, track basic system health, and manage user sessions. You can always start Task
Manager by selecting the Start Task Manager option on the Logon screen. It??™s also possible to start
Task Manager by typing TaskMgr and pressing Enter. The following sections describe the Task
Manager features.
Working with Applications
Obviously, you won??™t have many applications running when you work with Server Core. In fact,
it??™s quite possible that you??™ll only see the one application shown in Figure 1.3 running when you
use this version of Windows. The command prompt is typically the only application you need to
work with in Server Core with any frequency.
