The
following list describes each of the command line arguments.
/i Displays the GUI version of the utility. You must supply this command line switch as the
first option.
/l Logs off, rather than rebooting the system. You can??™t use this command line switch with the
-m switch.
/s Shuts down the computer. In most cases, this means turning off the computer.
/r Shuts down and restarts the computer. This command line switch performs a soft boot of
the system, which is all you need to ensure application changes take place as intended.
/g Shuts down and restarts the computer. After the system reboots, the operating system automatically
restarts any registered applications.
/a Aborts the system shutdown. Although you can stop a pending shutdown, it??™s usually
difficult to stop a shutdown that??™s already in progress.
/m \\computername Specifies a remote computer to shut down, restart, or abort. You must
have the rights required to perform these actions on the remote computer.
/t xx Specifies a timeout to perform the shutdown. The system defaults to a value of 30 seconds.
/c ???comment??? Provides a shutdown comment for the event log that details why you shut the
system down.
