Saving and Restoring System Restore Data with the SRDiag Utility
The System Restore Diagnostic (SRDiag) utility helps you recover from system damage. The system
uses CAB files to store the information required to restore the system. You supply this CAB file
as input to the utility, and the utility then performs a diagnostic to restore the system. You won??™t
find this utility in the normal \Windows\System32 directory. To add this command to the path, use
the path = %PATH%;%windir%\system32\Restore set command. This utility uses the following
syntax:
SRDiag [/CabName: cab] [/CabLoc:???path???]
The following list describes each of the command line arguments.
/CabName:cab Specifies the full name of the CAB file that you wish to use for system restoration.
When you don??™t supply a CAB file as input, the system creates a CAB file that uses the following
format:
_mmddyy_hhss.
