NOTE The Windows Server 2008 operating system uses symbolic links in many places. The
???Behavior??? section of this chapter describes how FSUtil works with symbolic links. You??™ll also
want to discover how to work with symbolic link attributes in the ???Changing File and Directory
Attributes with the Attrib Utility??? section of Chapter 15. The ???Standard FAT and NTFS File
Attributes??? sidebar in Chapter 15 provides a more extensive description of the symbolic link
attribute. You can use either the Copy or XCopy command to copy symbolic links as described
in Chapter 14. You??™ll also want to consider the effects of symbolic links on directory security. Use
the ICACLS command described in the ???Changing File and Directory Access with the ICACLS
Command??? section of Chapter 15 to manage symbolic link security.
