"Administering Windows Server 2008 Server Core"

This volume must be
different from the /For argument volume.
/MaxSize=MaxSizeSpec Specifies the maximum size of the shadow copy. If you don??™t specify
this value, then the shadow copy can be as large as the free space on the shadow drive. The minimum
shadow copy size is 300 MB. You may include any of the following size definitions: KB,
MB, GB, TB, PB, and EB. If you don??™t specify a size, then VSSAdmin assumes that you supplied
the value in bytes.
Managing Windows in a New Way
Your hard drive is possibly the most vulnerable and valuable resources on your server. Even if the
hard drive exists in a separate location, the fact that the server relies on it for all permanent storage
makes it incredibly important. In this chapter, you??™ve learned about the functionality that Server
Core provides for managing the hard drive, even if the hard drive is part of a SAN or requires
an iSCSI setup. The point is that you now have the tools to work with a hard drive in any way
necessary to preserve data. It??™s important to remember that this chapter is about the hard drive and
not about the data on the hard drive. To discover more about data, review Chapters 14 and 15.
