Notice that you don??™t
have to include the double quotes when the adapter name doesn??™t include spaces.
/renew6
Renews the IPv6 address for the specified adapter.
/flushdns
Purges (clears) the DNS Resolver Cache. The cache is a memory location that stores
DNS information about other machines. This cache can become corrupted, making purging the
only way to clear it and start fresh. Generally, you won??™t need to purge the cache unless you
move machines around on the network and change their IP address.
/registerdns
Refreshes all of the DHCP leases and re-registers the DNS names.
/displaydns
Displays the contents of the DNS Resolver Cache. The content depends on the
machine type. For example, a server might contain a wealth of addresses for machines across the
network and even machines on the Internet. A workstation might only contain the DNS information
for Localhost. To use this feature for diagnostic purposes, type
IPConfig /displaydns
and press Enter. You??™ll see DNS information like the information shown in Figure 11.3. Notice
that the output includes both IP addresses and hostnames.
/showclassid
Displays the DHCP class identifiers allowed for the adapter.
