Obtaining Multicast Router Information with the
MRInfo Utility
The MRInfo utility provides information about the multicast routers on a system. The output
includes both the multicast router interfaces and a list of the neighboring machines. This utility uses
the following syntax:
mrinfo [-n?] [-i address] [-t secs] [-r retries] destination
The following list describes each of the command line arguments.
-n
Displays the IP addresses in numeric format. The output normally contains the IP
addresses as DNS names.
-i
address
Defines the address of the local interface to query. The utility sends this interface
information to the destination.
-t
seconds
Defines the timeout in seconds for Internet Group Multicast Protocol (IGMP)
queries. The default setting is 3 seconds, which might not be long enough on large networks.
You can learn more about the IGMP standard at
http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc1112.txt
.
-r
retries
Defines the extra number of times to send the Simple Network Management
Protocol (SNMP) queries. The utility always sends the SNMP query at least once. The default
number of extra tries is 0. You can find the SNMP specification at
http://www.
