Theoretically, you can also use this command
line switch to determine the path from a completely different machine to a destination. In
practice, this technique tends to produce inaccurate results.
-n Displays only the IP addresses of the hosts in the path, rather than displaying the hostnames.
Using this technique produces faster results because the utility doesn??™t have to make two
queries for each intermediate location. In addition, using this approach can help you trace a
complete path when some intermediaries have disabled the Request Echo message handling code.
-p period Defines the number of milliseconds to wait between pings (or requests for information).
Using a shorter ping period improves performance, but could result in a failure of
PathPing to resolve the entire path. The default setting is 250 milliseconds.
-q num_queries Defines the maximum number of Request Echo messages per hop. Normally,
the PathPing utility uses 100 requests to determine path statistics for each hop. A higher number
produces statistics that are more accurate. However, if you??™re mainly interested in the path, then
you should set this value to 1.
-w timeout Specifies the number of milliseconds to wait for each reply.
