These third-party solutions are always unsupported
and Microsoft won??™t help you fix them when they fail. You??™ll find these solutions on online newsgroups
in many cases. When you don??™t find what you need as a native component of Server Core,
you??™ll need to obtain the required support elsewhere.
Unfortunately, you may not have a good hardware support option for some devices when working
with Server Core. In many cases, the support software assumes that you have a graphical interface
to use. For example, the temperature-sensing software that comes with many motherboards assumes
that you have a standard graphical interface at your disposal. In many cases, the software still works,
at least in a limited capacity, but in other cases, you??™ll need to search for a third-party alternative or
wait until the vendor creates a new piece of software to work with Server Core.
NOTE
Be sure you check the installation media that comes with the hardware for your system.
Sometimes a vendor won??™t install command line tools automatically??”assuming that you??™ll want
to use the GUI instead. In other cases, the GUI product also includes a command line interface
that you can use instead of the standard GUI.
