"Administering Windows Server 2008 Server Core"

The time service uses a circular
logging system so the log will never overflow.
/entries:value Defines the list of entries that the log contains as numeric values. Unfortunately,
Microsoft doesn??™t document these values, but the range is within the values from 0 to
300. Fortunately, the debugging mode works fine without this command line switch.
/truncate Truncates an existing log file before making new entries. This command line switch
ensures that the log doesn??™t contain any old entries when you start the debugging process.
Managing Windows in a New Way
Server Core provides a number of utilities for working with your other devices??”those that don??™t
constantly grab the headlines. Of course, this support is probably less than you??™d like. For example,
you won??™t find a utility for testing your display adapter completely or verifying the status of your
hard drive controller. However, the support you do get helps you perform tasks such as setting up
your power configuration. This chapter helps you build these skills:
? Configure line printers (Those Used with UNIX)
? Monitor memory
? Obtain general system information
? Use Notepad for various tasks
? Manage power settings
? Perform an unattended driver installation
? Manage Plug and Play settings
? Print from the command line
? Manage the system time
One of the configuration tasks that you probably haven??™t performed yet is to set up the power
configuration.
