Many of these other utilities come into play as people begin using the server and noticing deficiencies.
Even so, you can practice performing tasks such as registering COM servers. Trying to figure
out how to perform these tasks in an emergency is going to be hard, so trying it out in advance is
always a good idea.
354 CHAPTER 13 MANAGING APPLICATIONS
Chapter 14 shows you how to manage data at the command line. This is one of the hardest tasks
for administrators who are used to working with graphical utilities because Microsoft has done a
very good job with its graphical utilities. Many administrators don??™t even realize that you can perform
all of these tasks at the command line. Use Chapter 14 to discover how you??™ll perform all of
those tasks that you once relied on Windows Explorer and other graphical utilities to perform.
Chapter 14
Working with Data
Most administrators are used to relying on Windows Explorer to manage files on their system.
However, Server Core doesn??™t provide this option. If you want to create, copy, delete, sort, rename,
or perform other tasks with files, you must do it at the command line. Fortunately, you won??™t find
a lack of utilities for performing this task in Server Core.
