Sometimes Microsoft does get something right and in this case, it??™s a utility.
You??™ll want to spend time working with all of the utilities in this chapter because they??™re essential
tools and unlike many of the commands and utilities in this book, you??™ll use these commands and
utilities regularly to perform administrative work.
Chapter 16 shows how to perform another kind of configuration. In this case, you??™ll examine
techniques you can use to configure the system. Even though you??™ll use these tools rarely, they??™re
essential because they present the only way to accomplish the task. In fact, you may be surprised
to learn that you??™ll use these tools in the graphical version of Windows Server 2008 as well because
it doesn??™t provide a graphical tool to perform these tasks either. Chapter 16 is a chapter that you??™ll
reference every once in a while, but you??™ll be glad it??™s here when you need it.
Chapter 16
Configuring the System Setup
Your system requires certain configuration and monitoring that isn??™t part of any application or the
hardware, but part of the operating system itself. This chapter discusses three requirements that
you??™ll always perform at the command line because there isn??™t any other way to perform these
tasks.
