Finding the Third-Party Utilities That You Want
Believe me when I say that you won??™t ever test all of the command line??“oriented third-party utilities on
the market. In fact, if you test even a fraction of them fully, you??™ll do well. Of course, this lack of testing
time means that you have to find the utility you want sooner than later. Magazines often provide great
reviews of shareware, but finding those reviews can be difficult. Many magazine search engines leave a
lot to the imagination.
Fortunately, Google provides a great search engine. However, if you just enter search terms in Google,
you??™re unlikely to locate the utility you want. The selection of keywords and focusing the search is critical.
Always place the most important words for your search first. For example, placing the word shareware
first usually guarantees that you??™ll see the try-before-you-buy items first in Google. In addition,
use special search terms as needed. I find the site: search term one of the most useful that Google provides.
