"Administering Windows Server 2008 Server Core"

Very often, a single file includes a number of shell extensions. Unregistering one
of them unregisters them all. You can register the COM object again by using the RegSvr32 utility
when you make a mistake.
The interesting part about the ShellExView utility from a command line perspective is that
you can also use it to find information about a system. Unfortunately, the vendor doesn??™t document
the required command line switches as part of a /? command line switch for the product. However,
you can find a listing of them in the vendor Web site and in this book. Here are the current
ShellExView command line switches.
/stext Filename Saves the current list of shell extensions to a regular text file.
EXAMINING PROCESSES USING PROCESS EXPLORER 531
/stab Filename Saves the list of shell extensions to a tab-delimited text file that you can
import into a database. Using this option makes it possible for an administrator to create a list
of shell extensions for every machine on the network. Unfortunately, to obtain the listing for
another machine, you need to use Terminal Server or Remote Desktop to access the machine.
This utility doesn??™t include any remote system connectivity features.
