Try out the utilities in this chapter. However,
don??™t stop with these utilities. Check online to see what other utilities you can discover. A tool
that happens to work fine for me might not address your needs. In fact, these differences in needs
spawned the large third-party industry in command line tools. Everyone has different needs; you
need to discover what yours are by trying out a number of utilities and seeing which ones work best
for you.
Although these utilities enhance your command line experience in some way, they don??™t all
work at the command line. For example, the XVI32 utility has a graphical interface and you??™ll never
actually use it at the command line. Chapter 23 focuses on the command line itself. You??™ll find tools
that make the command line itself easier to use in Chapter 23. For example, you??™ll discover a
method for shutting down a system faster after you perform maintenance on it. You??™ll also find a
friendlier, graphical replacement for the command line. Yes, you??™ll still run batch files and use commands,
but the interface itself is better and you??™ll find that you have more control over the entire
command line interface.
