As with the enabled attribute, you separate the directory attribute from
the D:\IISLogs value using a colon. Notice that you must enclose the directory within double
quotes, especially if the directory name contains any spaces.
3. Verify the results by typing AppCmd List CONFIG /section:Log and pressing Enter. Always
verify the results of any changes you make. Figure 24.11 shows typical results from this task.

Configure the log files
as needed on your
server, but always
verify the results.
TIP Remember to use the question mark (?) as your guide for additional information when working
with the AppCmd utility. In many cases, AppCmd will tell you what to type next. For example,
when you type AppCmd Set CONFIG /Section:? and press Enter, you see a complete list of all of
the available sections. Choose a section, such as Log, type AppCmd Set CONFIG /Section:Log /?
and press Enter. AppCmd shows you a complete list of the attributes you can change for the Log
section. If you enter an incorrect value for an attribute, such as a string in place of a Boolean value,
then AppCmd tells you about the error. Of course, AppCmd won??™t know when you??™ve entered an
incorrect value of the correct type, such as the wrong directory.
