Make sure you focus on structure first so
that you can ensure you have all of the proper security in place. Work in a top-down fashion by setting
up sites first and virtual directories second. Make sure you set all of the required security using
the standard Windows security features (see Chapters 15, 20, and 21 for details). Add content once
you have the site structure configured and have all of the required security in place.
Chapters 24 and 25 have shown you what IIS 7 looks like from the command line. Of course, that??™s
the only view you get within Server Core. However, Microsoft has created some great graphical
tools that these chapters couldn??™t discuss. My book, Microsoft IIS 7: Implementation and Administration
(Sybex, 2007), provides full coverage of the IIS 7 most people see. This book also contains a considerable
number of additional tips for working at the command line, so you??™ll want to add it to your
library when you have to perform advanced configuration tasks. Although having my IIS 7 book
is a great idea, the content of these two chapters are really all you need to configure a basic Web
server on Server Core.
Congratulations! You??™ve come to the last chapter of the book.
