More than one application
can use the functions provided by a DLL, reducing
overall memory requirements when more than one
application is running. DLLs have a number of purposes.
For example, they can contain device-specific
code in the form of a device driver. Some types of
COM
objects also rely on DLLs.

Encapsulated PostScript (EPS)
A graphics file format used by the PostScript language.
PostScript is a page description language that uses
text to define the elements of a drawing. Like all
vector graphic formats, PostScript allows infinite
scaling and provides better resolution characteristics
than bitmapped graphics. Use of PostScript
requires an interpreter on every machine where the
language is used.
Encrypting File System (EFS)
A component of the Windows NT File System
(NTFS) that performs encryption and decryption of
files in a transparent manner. The user that originally
encrypted the file can access it seamlessly, but any
other user is denied access.
