The MAC layer is at the data link control
(DLC) layer of the OSI reference model for networks.
It directly interacts with the network media, which
means that each type of network will have a different
MAC that identifies the nodes on that network. The
MAC layer also referred to the DLC layer on some
networks.
Memory Fragmentation
A type of memory bottleneck that occurs when an
operating system is left running for an extended
time. The allocation and deallocation of memory by
applications can leave pockets of memory too small
to handle typical application requests, even though
there??™s more than enough memory to handle the
request. The result of memory fragmentation is a
loss of performance due to increased disk thrashing
as the operating system moves data from physical
memory to the hard drive and back again.

Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC)
A set of components designed to make data access
easier. MDAC is actually a software development
kit (SDK) that includes components, sample code,
headers, libraries, and other elements that allow the
developer to use newer Microsoft technologies such as
Object Linking and Embedding-Database (OLE-DB).
