The PID is used by a wide
variety of monitoring applications. It??™s also used to
access an application or as a means of identification
when terminating an errant application.
Program Information File (PIF)
A means of storing application configuration settings
as a separate file. Windows automatically looks at the
configuration settings when you execute the corresponding
application and makes any required environment
changes. The PIF usually includes various
memory settings along with the application??™s command
path and working directory.
Protocol Independent Multicast (PIM)
Defines the type of routing the server uses.

Ready to Send (RTS)
A serial port signaling line that indicates the Data
Terminal Equipment (DTE), such as a computer, is
ready to send data to the Data Communications
Equipment (DCE), such as a modem.
Relative Identifier (RID)
An Active Directory term that denotes the unique
part of a Security Identifier (SID) for an object. The
RID ensures that each SID is truly unique, even when
other objects have the same name or other attributes.
A RID is always a number that??™s drawn from a pool
of numbers.
