Most operating systems support at least
one scripting language. You??™ll also find scripting
capability in many higher-end applications such as
Web browsers and word processors. Scripts are normally
used to write small utility type applications
rather than large-scale applications that require the
use of a compiled language. In addition, many script
languages are limited in their access of the full set of
operating system features.

Secure Hashing Algorithm 1 (SHA-1)
The mathematical basis for encrypting and
decrypting data used with the Digital Signature
Standard (DSS) introduced by the National Institute
of Standards and Technology (NIST). DSS also relies
on Digital Signature Algorithm (DSA) to provide the
digital signature functionality.
Security Access Control List (SACL)
One of several specialized Access Control Lists
(ACL) used to maintain object integrity. This list
controls Windows??™ auditing features. Every time a
user or group accesses an object and the auditing
feature for that object is turned on, Windows makes
an entry in the audit log.
Security Access Manager (SAM)
A service that manages a database containing information
about an object (such as a user) and its security
settings.
