Load TShirtShop, place some orders, and then check the product and shopping cart details pages; they display
recommendations based on the ordered products! The results should look like Figures 15-1 and 15-2
shown earlier in this chapter.
?– Note Remember to place some test orders that contain many products in order to give your recommendations
mechanism some data to work with.
Summary
Showing product recommendations is a great way to encourage sales, and we succeeded in
implementing this functionality in this short chapter. The greatest challenge was to build the
SQL query that gets the list of recommended products, and we analyzed how to create it, step
by step. Our site is ready to boost our sales without any further effort on our part!
In the next chapter, we??™ll enter Phase III of development by adding another service for our
customers (and us)??”customer accounts functionality.

Managing Customer Details
So far in this book you??™ve built a basic but functional site and integrated it with PayPal for
accepting payments and confirming orders. In phase III of development, you??™ll take things
a little further. By cutting out PayPal from your ordering process, you can obtain much better
control??”as well as reduce overhead costs. It isn??™t as complicated as you might think, but you
do have to be careful to do things right.
