QUICKFACTS
UNDERSTANDING FILE FORMATS
(Continued)
??? TIFF (*.tif, *.tiff) Save an image in this format if
you??™re going to print it. Using this format, you can
choose whether to preserve layers. Preserving
layers increases the file size. When you save a
file using this format, you can choose whether
to compress the image. Compressing the image
achieves a smaller file size, but the trade-off is a
slight loss in quality. You can take high-resolution,
noncompressed TIFF images to a professional
printer for quality printing. You can also print TIFF
images on a personal photo-quality printer.
