Figure 12-30. Application descriptor file
In Figure 12-30, you can see that we can set five attributes for the window. Most of this text consists
of comments to explain the options and it is only the last line (starting with by the computer. We will be changing the first two of the attributes.
2. Set the systemChrome attribute to none. This will remove the operating system window.
3. Set the transparent setting to true. This will allow the background to be transparent once we
remove the background color.
We get rid of any background color in our application through the CSS attributes.
4. Replace the CSS with that shown in Figure 12-31.

CHAPTER 12
The CSS simply makes the background of the application transparent.
This leaves our components floating in space??”generally not a great look. Let??™s fix this by adding an
image to serve as the shape and background of the application. To make the application shape nonrectangular,
the image that you use must have some transparent areas. The image used in this example
is called background.png (Figure 12-32). You can use the graphics program of your choice to create
this image.

5. Drag an Image component onto your project. For ID type background and for source type
background.png.
This has now given us a nonrectangular application. But the loss of the window has also taken away
some of the functionality we need for our application.
