"Accelerated VB 2008"

If Counter is 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, or 10, the number is written to the console and normal
execution goes to the Next line.
For Counter As Integer = 1 To 10
Select Case Counter
Case 1 To 5, 8 To 10
Console.WriteLine("{0}", Counter.ToString)
Case 6, 7
Continue For
End Select
You can use the Continue command with Do While, Do Until, and For looping constructs
(Continue Do, Continue While, and Continue For).
Summary
In this chapter, we discussed the differences between value types and reference types and
some of the issues involved in converting the two. We also covered some of the highlights of
the VB syntax and some control flow statements. Now we??™re ready to dive into the core of VB
development??”classes and structures.
CHAPTER 2 n VB 2008 SYNTAX 33
Classes and Structures
Everything in Visual Basic (VB) is an object. As VB is an object-oriented language, the objects
that you create through class definitions have all the same capabilities of the other predefined
objects in the system. In fact, keywords such as Integer and Boolean are merely aliases to predefined
value types within the System namespace, System.Int32, and System.Boolean, respectively.
The ability to invent your own types is an integral part of object-oriented systems.
