While creating 3D animations for corporate accounts like Bosch and Kraft Foods, I also
began submitting articles to the only LightWave publication at the time, LightWave Pro.
From there, I wrote tutorials every month, and also contributed to their sister publication,
Video Toaster User. I was ???Dr. Toaster??? and would answer questions for readers (I did not
choose the name of the column, by the way). Avid Media Group, publishers of Video
Toaster User and LightWave Pro, were bought out by Miller Freeman Publishing, and so I
started writing for a new magazine called 3D Design. Around 1995, I met with a representative
from Macmillan Publishing and we discussed the idea of LightWave book. They
knew who I was through my articles in the trade magazines, and in 1996, the first book
on LightWave was published, LightWave Power Guide from New Riders Publishing. Inside
LightWave v9 is my eleventh book and follows the popular Inside LightWave [8], LightWave
[8] Killer Tips, Inside LightWave [7], Inside LightWave [6], LightWave 6.5 Magic, and Inside
LightWave 3D books. In addition to the LightWave books, I??™ve also written Digital
Cinematography & Directing, the Official Luxology modo Guide, and Digital Photography
for 3D Imaging and Animation.
