The formula for the Inside books has worked well since the first Inside LightWave edition
in 1997, and I don??™t want to change that. Many of the longtime readers look for this same
format because of its proven track record. However, I did not want you to be in the situation
I was in, especially when trying to learn a complex 3D application, not just a Webcreation
program. Therefore, I created the Inside LightWave [8] ???Quick-Start??? for Chapter 1.
This was a not-too-involved type of tutorial that got you up and running with LightWave
[8]. To continue the tradition for Inside LightWave, I??™ve gone a step further and provided
the Quick-Start as a free training video on the book??™s DVD. This will help you get to speed
even faster with LightWave. The Quick-Start certainly doesn??™t inform you about all the
tools and features in LightWave v9, but it does help familiarize you with the software and
its workflow. Then, you can move into the chapters and learn about the panels, modeling,
texturing, layout, animation, and rendering.
About the Creation of This Book
