Figure 3.52 Add another key to the gradient
bar, and make this one yellow.
Chapter 3 Understanding Basic Textures 137
14. Close the gradient panel. Back in the
Node Editor workspace, you can see
that your applied gradient shows in the
node itself. Now all you need to do is
connect it to the Crumple node. Try
this: If you drag the color channel from
the gradient node to the Luminosity
input of the destination node, look
what happens. The luminous values are
changed for the destination surface.
These are driven by the luminous output
of the gradient. The yellow is
brighter (has more luminance) than the
red, and the destination node is updated
accordingly, as in Figure 3.54.
15. Try something different now. First, to
???unhook??? a connection, just click on
the arrow to remove it. Take the color
output of the gradient and connect it to
the opacity of the Crumple node. Just
click on the red dot and drag, then drop
it on the opacity.
Note
You don??™t have to move the nodes
around in order to connect them.
The system will pull the arrows to
wherever you want, but it??™s not a bad
idea to arrange the nodes in left-toright
fashion to help stay organized.
