For now, we??™ll use the standard Camera Properties panel for our examples.
Note
The default resolution is VGA mode, which is 640 pixels wide by 480 pixels tall. This resolution
is of a medium size, which is common for most computer work. You also can
choose SVGA, which is 800 by 600 pixels, or XVGA, which is 1024 by 768 pixels. These
are good resolutions to work with if your images or animations are being used in a computer
environment, such as in QuickTime or AVI formats. You also have resolutions such
as SWXGA, which is 1366?—768, a popular resolution for many HD monitors. You??™ll find
that LightWave v9 offers film resolutions presets as well, all found within the Resolution
drop-down. The reason you??™d use some of these higher resolutions is to match video or
film, either imported and composited, or perhaps it??™s a resolution you??™re rendering to for
later use.
Note
If you are creating animations that will end up on videotape, you??™ll want to use the D1 or
D2 NTSC resolution settings (in the United States), or the D1 or D2 PAL resolution settings
(in Europe).
QuickTime is Apple Computer??™s basic multimedia application and format, now common
on both Macintosh and Windows computers.
