Rendering an animation to a QuickTime
movie creates a playable computer file. AVI (Audio Video Interleaved), developed by
Microsoft, is another type of compressed audio/video format. Each has varying levels
of compression, so check your particular computer system for your ideal setting.
You might find it confusing that you can set up camera resolution in two places in
LightWave v9.You??™re not alone! It is confusing. The goal here in this section is to have
you understand resolutions and settings.Where you set them is not as important
right now. But you can get into the habit of setting up everything globally. Click the
Use Global option in the Camera Properties panel, and then just use the Render
Globals panel to set everything else.

Note
Setting the Resolution Multiplier
A great time-saving feature in LightWave
is the Resolution Multiplier (Figure
5.4). It lets you output an accurate version
of the final render at a different size
(usually smaller than the final version,
to save time) without changing the
actual pixel dimensions of the project.
This is perfect for cranking out scaleddown
versions of a render for testing or
client-approval purposes, and it does a
super job with enlargements as well .
