Setting the segment memory
to 60MB (or 60MB of RAM) often enables you to render higher resolutions in one segment.
Although this setting is only an example, LightWave??™s Segment Memory setting is
a maximum setting. This means you can set this value to the same amount of RAM in
your system, and LightWave will only use what it needs, often eliminating the need for
your system to use virtual memory or a scratch disk. The Segment Memory Limit setting
defaults to 32.
Note
When you click the Segment
Memory button, a small panel
pops up, asking you to enter a
value. You can enter a value as
large as you want, provided you
have the memory in your system.
When you click OK, LightWave
asks whether you want to make this value the default. Click Yes, and you won??™t have to
change this value when you start creating another animation scene. Figure 5.13 shows the
Segment Memory selection in the Camera Properties panel.
Remember that higher resolution settings require more system memory, so be careful
when setting very high resolutions and high segment memory limits.
