Figure 5.18 shows the additional
options in the Camera Properties panel.
Figure 5.18 You have the option to choose Horizontal and Vertical Field of View (FOV).
Changing the values for zoom factor automatically adjusts the lens focal length, the horizontal
FOV, and the vertical FOV. The horizontal and vertical fields of view give you precise
control over the lens in LightWave. The two values listed next to FOV are the
horizontal and vertical fields (horizontal is the first value).Working with FOV is useful
when you are working in real-world situations and need to match camera focal lengths,
especially when compositing.
Don??™t let all these settings confuse you, however. The Zoom Factor, Lens Focal Length,
Horizontal FOV, and Vertical FOV settings all enable you to set the same thing. Simply use
the one you??™re most familiar or most comfortable with??”or choose whatever is called for
to match a real-world camera. There is no inherent benefit in using one over the other.
Antialiasing
When you render an animation, it needs to look good, right? Certainly your model needs
to be built correctly, but there are render settings you can apply to enhance the final output.
