Figure 5.22 Motion blur is applied to a fast-moving object in a scene. Motion blur helps add
the feeling of movement because in real-world cameras, the shutter speed is not
fast enough to freeze the action.
Apply the motion blur effect any time you have something fast-moving in your scene.
Even if it??™s only a slight motion blur, the added effect will help ???sell??? the look. If your animation
is perfectly clean, perfectly smooth, and always in focus, it won??™t look realistic. It
will look better with some inconsistencies, such as motion blur.

Chapter 5 3D Cameras 201
Motion blur also is important to actions like the flapping of a bee??™s wings, the spinning
of an airplane??™s propellers, and so on.Many animated objects moving at high speed will
require you to set the Motion Blur option. If you look at spinning propellers in the real
world, all you see is a blur. To re-create that look in LightWave, turn on Motion Blur in the
Camera Properties panel.
Classic Motion Blur
To activate LightWave??™s classic motion blur, antialiasing must be active.
