If it??™s not,
LightWave v9 will turn it on automatically when you activate antialiasing. Antialiasing
redraws the edges of the geometry in the scene, and blurs them accordingly.
PhotoReal
Another type ofMotion Blur setting is PhotoReal. Basically, this motion blur can be more
accurate, allowing you to specify the number of motion blur samples. More samples
means cleaner blurs. But here??™s the cool part: with PhotoReal, you don??™t need to set
antialiasing. Not that you??™d want to render a scene without antialiasing, but to perform a
render test to see your blurs in action, PhotoReal comes in handy.
Blur Length
Blur Length is the amount of motion blur you want to use. The default setting for this
option is 50%, which produces nice results. Depending on the animation, you may want
to set this value slightly higher??”for example, to 60% or 65%??”for more blurring. When
you apply the Blur Length setting, corresponding Shutter Angle and Exposure Time values
appear beneath the Blur Length window. Most of your motion-blurred animations
should have a 50% Blur Length. This is because the blur length relates to the amount of
time the theoretical film is actually exposed.
