"Inside LightWave v9"

Because of the physical mechanism, a film
camera can??™t expose a frame for 1/24 of a second, even though film normally plays back
at 24 frames per second. It turns out that this rotating shutter mechanism exposes the film
for only 50% of the per-second rate; thus, a setting of 50% for Blur Length is perfect.
Particle Blur
The Particle Blur setting applies a special type of motion blur to particle systems??”groups
of similar small objects that behave in some ways like a single entity. Use it to blur animations
of explosions, receding starfields, snow, rain, and the like. A Blur Length setting
of 50% works well for Particle Blur.
Stereo and Depth of Field (DOF)
The second tab area at the bottom of the Camera Properties panel is named Stereo and
DOF (Figure 5.23).
Stereoscopic Rendering
On the Stereo and DOF tab in the Camera
Properties panel, you can turn on the
Stereoscopic Rendering option, which lets you
create 3D movies for viewing with special
glasses, ViewMaster-style stereoscopic still
images, and even lintography, the specialized
printing process (used to produce 3D trading
cards, for example), in which plastic is overlaid
on a processed 2D image to give an illusion of
depth.
