Couldn??™t
be easier!
Figure 5.28 The Range Finder pop-up
allows you to set the Camera as a link.
Mask Options
The final tab available in the Camera properties
panel that allows you to enhance the LightWave
camera is named Mask Options (Figure 5.30).
Here, you can tell the camera in LightWave to
render certain areas while excluding others.
Areas that are excluded from the render, or
masked, are denoted by a color. This option is
great for setting up pseudo widescreen
renders or a letterbox effect.
You can set values for Left, Top,
Width, and Height, as well as Mask
Color. Figure 5.31 shows a rendered
image with Mask Options
applied. You can use these options
to create letterboxed images, simulating
a 16:9 or widescreen look on
a 4:3 television.
You can see that the control available
to you for LightWave??™s cameras
can be a significant element in
the animations you create. Too
often, the camera is ignored and left in place. This is a crime??”remember the camera when
you animate! Animate it as well as your objects.
Note
Camera Concepts
You want to incorporate the camera more into your animations but don??™t know where to
begin? You may find yourself in situations where you don??™t know how to frame a shot or
decide where to place the camera.
