"Inside LightWave v9"

This next section provides you with some basic instruction
that you can use throughout any of your animations.
Remember that masking covers up your rendered image based on the parameters
you set. It does not resize your image.

Figure 5.30 The Mask Options tab
in the Camera Properties panel enables
you to mask areas of your Camera view
for rendering.

only portions of animations while setting a color

Chapter 5 3D Cameras 209
View in Thirds
To many animators, looking through a camera lens is like looking at a blank canvas.Where
should you begin? How should you view a particular shot? Your first step in answering
these questions is to get a book on basic photography and cinematography. References
such as these can be invaluable to animators as well as a great source of ideas.
One of the first lessons such a book will teach you, and which you can apply when looking
through your LightWave camera, is that images with subjects smack in the center are
dull. Unbalanced compositions have a certain tension that makes them more engaging
than those that are symmetrical.
