(Seeing their name, company slogan, or logo
in glorious 3D never fails to impress.)
The primary focus of this chapter is modeling; however, it??™s important to see a result, and
therefore, you??™ll also create a full animation for the text. It will be a simple animation, but
with some complex motion added for good measure.
With the advent of increased computing power and increased software capabilities, television
stations, postproduction houses, and even corporations do most 3D art and animation
in-house. Years ago, 3D was highly specialized, and very costly. Today we see it
everywhere and it??™s more accessible than ever.Regardless, logo creations and animated text
are still the meat and potatoes of 3D. Although you might wince at the mention of the
term, flying-logo animations pay the bills in many animation studios, and for independent
animators around the globe.
Nevertheless, flying-logo animation is a generalized term. Even though the term is easily
misconstrued as entry-level or nonprofessional work, you can rest assured that many
companies and independent animators still make a very good living creating these types
of animations.
