What you do next is totally up to
you. Many people put everything in motion first, then light, then render.Others light first,
then animate. Here, we??™ll do a little of everything!
Lighting is important in any scene, even a relatively simple logo animation. This section
shows you how to set up lighting for your scene and how to animate the text you??™ve built??”
including the pivot points you changed for the swoosh objects. From there, you??™ll create
a cool moving background that provides an interesting environment for your scene.
Exercise 7.8 LightingText
Lighting for logos is really no different than other lighting we??™ve already tried. What often
works well is three-point lighting with spotlights.
1. You have a default distant light in your scene already. Select it, and press p to open
the Light Properties panel. Change the Light Type to Spotlight, as in Figure 7.33.
Figure 7.33 Change the default distant light to a spotlight.
2. Set the Light Color to an off-white, somewhere around R: 255, G: 250, B: 245.
3. Change the Spotlight Cone Angle to 40 degrees, and set the Spotlight Soft Edge
Angle to 40 degrees as well.
